Adventure Specialties Trust
Auckland and Christchurch
Adventure Specialties Trust provides a range of outdoor programmes in adventure therapy with youth, families and specialist groups; youth development and outdoor education. In most circumstances we provide our services to people who are already engaged with a school, a community agency or another service of some kind. We work in partnership with that community organization to add the adventure activities to the services and programmes they are already providing. We custom design our adventure programming to meet the goals and objectives of that client group identified by the partnering community organization. We are starting to run more open enrollment adventure therapy programmes where individuals can enroll directly on our courses. If you are from a community organization or an individual please contact us if you would like discuss how our services might be able to support you.

Our Adventure Therapy programs at St John of God Waipuna offer young people opportunities to explore and develop their own strengths and wisdom in a supportive yet challenging environment through nature and adventure activities.
The aim of our Adventure Therapy programs is to increase personal resilience – the skills, strengths and relationships each young person has to help them get through life.
The program has run for the past 19 years and was founded by Paddy Pawson in 1999 and first delivered at Aranui High School to young people who found their home and school life challenging
WIO has worked with people of all ages for over 30 years and we are progressively noticing a need for programmes designed to address mental health concerns. Over recent years we have piloted and refined programmes with adventure therapy at their heart. Our team of expert facilitators, counsellors and kaiako design and lead programmes that provide increasingly critical support for rangatahi across the Top of the South.
